Whenever I hear stories about the mounting U.S debt I prefer to think of a friend of mine with 2 kids in college and a 3rd heading for college in a year.
For whatever reason college tuition has rose faster than virtually anything else. Don’t ask me why. My buddy tells me that teaching for his youngsters is $90,000 a year. What it’s going to be when his third kid enters college is anyone’s guess.
A lot is dependent on the U.S. Debt. We do know that the day of reckoning for the debt is coming soon. Whether or not that means fast inflation or a deflationary spiral is debatable.
In both cases the responsibility on folk like my friend with kids in school will be greater. And what about people who were looking to retire? Those plans may be dashed as payment of the debt changes our technique of life.
So there is good reason to worry for people in all steps of life.
Am I worried?
I am troubled for people who will find themselves on a treadmill of mounting debt.
Especially for older folk who don’t have the wherewithal to make up for the loss of wealth.
But am I worried personally and for my clients? I confess I’m not.
