How Can I Find Someone’s DUI Criminal Charges

October 2nd, 2010

It’s a fact these days, you can search for just about everything online. It’s getting easier and easier to find records that were, until recently, only available to police and private investigators. DUI convictions and charges.

There are three types of DUI charges one can be charged with such as misdemeanor, felony and vehicular manslaughter. Misdemeanor charges are a crime less than a felony. Those charged with this offense could serve a year in a county jail along with fines. A felony is charged when someone is injured due to DUI. This offense could land the offender in the state prison for more than a year and must pay fines. A vehicular manslaughter is a felony charge involving death due to DUI. This offense lands offender in state prison.

DUI records also make a note of less severe offenses like a parking ticket. In such cases, once the fine has been paid, it is recommended that the offender ensure that the authorities remove the name from the record. This is important because if the government agency fails to correct it on time, it leads to several complications, especially if the offense is committed following a theft of the vehicle. It can result in a case of mistaken identity and false assumption of an individual having served time for drunk driving. Inaccuracies in the DUI record can hike up the insurance rates and wreck the chances of success even for the most qualified candidate.

Local government also make big money off of DUIs. As a result, the trend has been to lower the legal blood alcohol content levels to increase revenue. What this has done is place thousands of people every year into our criminal justice system that otherwise would never have a criminal record.
