Your Baby’s Skin Care

August 29th, 2010

A business that is growing everyday is the baby care market. In America the baby care has brought in about 7.5 billion dollars per year. Now because the baby care industry has gotten so much larger over the years, mothers are now being more educated about what they put on their baby’s skin.

Baby skin is a lot different then adults skin and it needs to be cared for differently. This is similar to adult skin most of the time. When an infants skin is formed it is in the dark, and it is submerged in liquid. The baby’s skin needs to adjust to the world. As people get older their skin also get older and thickens, so therefore a baby’s skin is finer then paper and has a smooth texture. So a baby’s skin has a lot of challenges to keep it’s moisture and to protect itself from the harsh environment.

It is very important to maintain the baby’s pH of the skin between 4-6, by doing this it ensures that the mantel of acid is supported. You should not use any products that contain animal products or have any by-products in them. Any fragrance could be irritating on a baby’s skin so it would be best to avoid any fragrance at all. Which this can be frequently confused with care market occassionally. It is best to make sure that the product that you are considering is tested by a paediatrician and also a dermatologist also. There are some products that are out there that try to go overy this recommendation by saying that they are hypoallergenic and recommended.

Anything that has vitamin A and E, Oat extract, Shea butter is great for baby’s skin. Be sure to use very mild soap when you clean your baby. Avoid at all costs Sodium Laural Sulfate this can clog the baby’s pores. Which this is not like baby care many times. Be sure to enjoy bath time and make skin care a ritual.
